Home golf simulator setup on Long Island
October 24, 2026
Ceiling height, launch-monitor prices, mats, screens, and software for a Long Island garage, basement, or spare room. Prices checked October 24, 2026.
A home setup is a room plus a launch monitor, a place for the ball to stop, and software. This page uses manufacturer pages checked October 24, 2026. Sale prices and compare-at prices are both printed when the page showed both. They move. Tax, shipping, and installation were extra on the pages that said so. If a dollar figure is missing, that page did not print one.
Indoor rooms you can book are on the simulator guide. What those rooms charge per hour is in the simulator pricing guide.
Room dimensions and ceiling height
Measure width, depth, and height to the lowest joist, beam, duct, light, or garage-door opener. Take a driver swing before you buy a frame. A published typical ceiling height for Long Island garages or basements was not found, so this page does not print one.
Manufacturer pages do not use one room size.
- Foresight's July 6, 2026 setup guide recommends 10 feet of ceiling, 12 to 15 feet of width, and 15 to 18 feet of depth. It says 9 feet works for many golfers and 8.5 feet is for irons only. It says the SIM IN A BOX Play 10' fits a space as narrow as 10 feet wide, and that more width supports both right-handed and left-handed players.
- Trackman's simulator page says the minimum ball-to-screen distance is 8 feet 2 inches. For the best experience it recommends at least 15 feet wide, 10 feet high, and 18 feet deep. On ceiling height it says most users need at least 9 to 10 feet to swing a driver, and taller players may need more.
- Uneekor's space article says the room should be at least 13 feet wide for a driver, and at least 15 feet wide for a golfer 6 feet or taller. It recommends at least 12 feet from the screen to the tee, and says 10 feet may suffice if you accept more bounce-back. Overhead units are designed to mount 9 to 10 feet above the hitting area, measured to the bottom of the bracket. The EYE XO product page recommends a minimum room of 13 feet wide, 16 feet deep, and 10 feet high.
- SkyTrak's launch-monitor page recommends at least 10 feet wide by 10 feet deep indoors, plus enough ceiling to swing the longest club. The same company's studio frames are smaller than that footprint. Those frame sizes are in the enclosure section below. The two pages do not describe the same rectangle. Measure, then call.
- The Garmin Approach R10 manual does not print a ceiling number. It says the ceiling must clear the backswing and follow-through, the ball must be at least 8 feet from the net, and the unit sits 6 to 8 feet behind the ball. The hitting area it describes is 2 feet by 2 feet. Rapsodo's MLM2PRO page says the unit sits 6.5 to 8.5 feet behind the ball, the ball needs 8 feet to the net, and the indoor total is a little more than 14 feet. Taller players may need the unit farther back for swing video.
Radar units that sit behind the ball need that extra depth. Camera units that sit beside the ball, or overhead, do not. Garmin's comparison of the R50 and the R10 says the camera-based R50 needs less indoor space because the radar-based R10 has to sit behind you.
Launch monitors and what they cost
Prices below are what the product page showed on October 24, 2026. A struck-through or "regular" price is the compare-at price on that page, not a price LISwing verified on an earlier day.
Radar and phone units
Rapsodo MLM2PRO: $549.99 on sale, $699.99 regular. The page says it uses dual optical cameras and radar, works indoors and outdoors, and includes a 21-day Core trial. Rapsodo's FAQ says practice mode is free and shows carry and ball speed. Spin rate, spin axis, attack angle, and club path need a membership. An RPT ball is required to show spin. Core is $199.99 a year. Rapsodo Studios is $399.99 a year. Memberships bill yearly. The trial renews unless you cancel.
SkyTrak ST MAX: $1,695 on sale, $2,995 regular. The page says dual Doppler radar and a photometric camera, and it lists ball and club data without saying a sticker is required. The same page says a purchase includes 1 year of Core (FS) membership, and the feature list also says a 14-day trial. Those two lines do not match. Confirm which one is in the cart.
A current US store price for the Garmin Approach R10 or R50 was not on a page we could open on October 24, 2026. Garmin's November 12, 2024 announcement listed a suggested retail for the R50 starting at $4,999.99. That is an announcement price, not a checkout we completed. The R10 manual and the comparison article above are the space and ball notes. The comparison says that, indoors, the R10 measures total spin with Titleist RCT balls and calculates spin axis, and the R50 measures spin with any ball.
Side camera units
Uneekor EYE MINI LITE: $1,999 on sale, $2,750 regular. Ground-mounted, two high-speed cameras, a hitting zone of 12 inches by 8 inches, and a Windows PC required. The included Player package covers ball data, club data, and a virtual range. The page says a paid upgrade is required for third-party play, Refine, AI Trainer, and GAMEDAY. It does not print that upgrade's price. The compare block on the same page listed EYE MINI CORE at $1,249 and EYE MINI at $2,999.
The EYE MINI LITE manual says the device is for indoor use only, and that storage should stay between 20°F and 110°F.
Foresight's GC3 / Launch Pro page listed an unlocked GC3 at $6,995, including FSX 2020 with 20 standard courses and FSX Pro. It listed a subscription unit at $2,999, and that price does not include the yearly plan. Foresight's subscription article says Launch Pro, Launch Pro Indoor, and GC3s use Silver at $199 a year or Gold at $499 a year. GC3s includes 1 year of Gold. Launch Pro and Launch Pro Indoor include a 14-day trial. Gold is what that article requires for third-party simulator software. The GC3, GCQuad, and GCHawk lines in GSPro's notes instead require FSX 2020 or FSX Play. Read the page for the exact model before you add a second subscription.
Overhead units
Uneekor EYE XO: $6,499 on sale, $7,999 regular. Front ceiling mount, two cameras, a Player package included. The page lists Ultimate membership at $599 a year, with 3 months included, for third-party software and more courses. The compare block on that page listed EYE XR at $5,999 and EYE XO2 at $10,999.
Foresight Falcon: $16,999. Overhead, four cameras, a 59 by 28 inch hitting zone, and a ceiling mount. The box includes 30 days of Foresight+ Gold. The page does not print the renewal price. Orders on that page ship to US addresses. Mounting screws are not included. Cancellation after 24 hours keeps a $250 fee, per the terms on the page.
Trackman's simulator page says complete packages start at $29,715 and names Trackman iO Home as the home unit. It does not print an iO-only price. The cost answer on that page says to ask for a quote.
Hitting mat
The mat is where you stand and where the club meets the ball. Foresight's July 6, 2026 guide puts a hitting mat in a typical range of $500 to $3,000. That is Foresight's range, not a quote for a named mat.
A separate hitting-mat product page with its own price was not opened for this check. The SkyTrak ST MAX standard studio includes a 5 by 5 foot mat in the package price below. Garmin's R10 manual says that if you use a mat, the bottom edge of the launch monitor has to sit above the mat.
Net, enclosure, and impact screen
A net stops the ball. It does not show a course. Garmin's R10 manual says the net or screen needs free space behind it, has to be tall and wide enough for high-loft and missed shots, and the frame should be padded so a ball does not come back hard.
An enclosure holds an impact screen and side netting so a projector can put a course on the screen. Foresight's July 6, 2026 guide puts enclosure and screen in a typical range of $3,000 to $10,000 or more, and lists a Play 10' enclosure kit at about $4,999 without a launch monitor. The same article's package table and Foresight's buyer guide do not print the same package prices. The buyer guide page still shows a February 10, 2021 date and lists Custom at $15,999 to $30,995 and Play at $9,999. The July 6, 2026 guide lists Play 10' under $8,000, Play 10' with a ball-enabled GC3 under $10,000, and Custom Studio at $12,799 to $30,995. Use the configurator or call Foresight at (858) 880-0179. Do not add those rows into one LISwing total.
SkyTrak's ST MAX standard studio was $4,195 on sale and $5,495 regular. It includes the ST MAX, a steel frame, an impact screen, the 5 by 5 mat, and a ZW350ST projector. The page's frame sizes, which are the enclosure and not the whole room, are:
- Studio 8: 8 feet wide, 7 feet 5 inches high, 4 feet deep. Projector is floor-mounted. The page says that is for a room without overhead clearance.
- Studio 10 and Studio 12: 10 or 12 feet wide, 8 feet 6 inches high, 5 feet 4 inches deep.
- Studio 13 Deep: 13 feet wide, 10 feet high, 10 feet deep.
The page says the frame can fit and you should still take practice swings. A 7-foot-5 enclosure is not a 7-foot-5 ceiling. SkyTrak says the impact screen wears out, that marked or cut balls wear it faster, and that normal wear is not covered by the warranty. The studio page lists a 14-day Essential trial, not the 1-year Core line on the launch-monitor-only page.
Projector and computer
Foresight's July 6, 2026 guide says a short-throw projector, at least 3,000 lumens, and 1080p as the minimum, with the throw ratio matched to the screen. It puts a projector in a typical range of $1,000 to $4,000 and a computer in a typical range of $1,000 to $3,000. A standalone projector price was not confirmed on the projector maker's own page for this check. The SkyTrak studio above includes a ZW350ST and does not list that projector's lumens.
Uneekor's EYE MINI LITE and EYE XO pages say a PC is required. The recommended spec on both pages is Windows 11, an Intel Core i7 12th gen or AMD Ryzen 7 5000 series or later, 32 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti or equivalent. The pages say that spec is mandatory for products such as AI Trainer.
GSPro runs on Windows 10 or 11, not Mac or iOS. For 1080p it recommends at least 10 GB free, a GTX 3060, and 16 GB of memory. For 4K it recommends an RTX 3080 or better and 32 GB. SkyTrak's own app is a separate install and can run on the phones and tablets listed on SkyTrak's pages. The ST MAX page says course play does not work on an iPhone.
Software subscriptions
The launch-monitor price is not the yearly cost.
- GSPro: $250 a year, plus tax. Updates while the subscription is active. The lifetime add-on is no longer sold. New buyers pick a launch monitor at checkout. The supported list includes Uneekor models, Foresight GC3, GCQuad, GCHawk, and Falcon, Bushnell Launch Pro, Full Swing KIT, Garmin R10 and R50, and Rapsodo MLM2PRO. SkyTrak is not on that list. The page tells SkyTrak owners to ask SkyTrak. GSPro says Uneekor needs an active "Pro Package," Rapsodo MLM2PRO needs a "Premium Membership," Bushnell Launch Pro needs paid Gold, and GC3, GCQuad, and GCHawk need FSX 2020 or FSX Play. Uneekor's own pages say Player is included and that third-party play is on a higher tier. Rapsodo's FAQ says Core unlocks third-party apps and that Studios is not required. The names do not match. Confirm with both companies before you pay GSPro.
- Rapsodo Core $199.99 a year, Studios $399.99 a year, as above. A 21-day Core trial comes with the unit and renews unless canceled.
- SkyTrak, checked on the product pages: Essential $99.99 a year for the driving range and practice tools, without course play. Core (FS) $299.99 a year, with the Foresight course pack. The page says over 35 courses, including Pebble Beach. Core (TM) $349.99 a year, with the Trackman pack, and the page lists Bethpage Black. Elite $599.99 a year, both packs, and the page says 85 or more courses, including Bethpage Black.
- Foresight Silver $199 a year and Gold $499 a year for the subscription models named above. Falcon includes 30 days of Foresight+ Gold and does not print the renewal. Uneekor EYE XO lists Ultimate at $599 a year. The EYE MINI LITE page does not print its upgrade price.
Budget tiers
These are separate product pages, not a built-and-installed Long Island quote. Do not add a launch monitor, a subscription, a computer, and Foresight's typical ranges into one number. Foresight's July 6, 2026 guide says tax and freight are extra and puts optional installation, including ceiling mounting and electrical work, at $1,000 to $10,000 or more. That is Foresight's range. An electrician's price on Long Island was not confirmed. Call.
- Data into a net. Rapsodo's MLM2PRO at $549.99 on sale or $699.99 regular, or SkyTrak's ST MAX at $1,695 on sale or $2,995 regular. You still need a net, a mat, and enough depth for a radar unit that sits behind the ball. A current price for a net alone was not on a page we checked.
- Screen, projector, and mat in one SkyTrak box. The ST MAX standard studio at $4,195 on sale or $5,495 regular includes the launch monitor, frame, screen, 5 by 5 mat, and projector. Membership after the included trial is a separate yearly line. A computer is not in that list.
- Overhead camera, unit only. Uneekor EYE XO at $6,499 on sale or $7,999 regular, or Foresight Falcon at $16,999. The enclosure, projector, mat, and PC are not in those unit prices. The EYE XO page wants a room on the order of 13 by 16 by 10 feet.
- Turnkey package with a quote. Trackman complete packages from $29,715 on its simulator page. Foresight's two package pages disagree with each other, so the honest line is the configurator or a call.
Renting a bay is the comparison if the room is short. Published hourly rates, checked October 22, 2026, are in the simulator pricing guide. This page does not divide a home purchase by those rates.
A Long Island garage, basement, or spare room
Measure the room you have. Nassau and Suffolk are both in this directory. The New York State climate-zone-by-county table reprinted in the 2025 New York City Energy Conservation Code, Chapter R3, lists Nassau and Suffolk in Climate Zone 4, in the same column as New York City. That chapter tells New York City projects to use Climate Zone 4A. It does not repeat 4A on the Nassau or Suffolk row.
Winter temperature is from a Long Island station, not from a garage. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for Islip LI MacArthur Airport (USW00004781) put January at a daily maximum of 39.2°F, a daily minimum of 24.6°F, and a daily mean of 31.9°F, with a normal of 24.8 January days at or below 32°F. Annual precipitation in that summary is 45.99 inches. The normals page is the catalog. If the garage is unheated, those outdoor numbers are the reason to read the device's temperature range before you store it there. A finished basement is inside the heated house. This page does not have a measured basement temperature, and it does not have a typical basement ceiling height. Ducts and joists are why the tape measure matters more than the room's name.
Garmin's R10 manual lists operation from 14°F to 131°F and charging from 32°F to 113°F. January's normal low at Islip, 24.6°F, is below that charging minimum. Garmin staff, in a forum reply, say metal and concrete can affect the R10 radar, heaters and fans can hurt accuracy or stop a shot from registering, and the app's outdoor weather can change distances when the air outside is much colder than the room. Set the temperature in the session. Uneekor's manual says indoor use only and storage no colder than 20°F. A spare room that stays at indoor temperature avoids that garage problem and still has to clear the swing.
A relative-humidity number for a Long Island garage was not on a page we checked. It is omitted.
If the ceiling fails the driver test, a heated outdoor bay is a different plan. Confirmed heated ranges are in the heated range guide. County lists are the Nassau ranges and the Suffolk ranges. Bethpage's range is outdoors.
Try before you buy
Book a bay and ask which unit is in it. The brand below is named only when data/venues.json cites the venue's own site or Golf on Long Island's February 3, 2026 indoor list. A room with no brand in that record is not given one here. Hours and the rate on the day you go are call to confirm. The pricing guide has the figures that were on the pages on October 22, 2026.
Uneekor, on the venue's page
- Island Greens in Franklin Square. The Franklin Square pricing page says the bays use Uneekor launch monitors. That is the home-unit brand a Long Island golfer can hit before ordering an EYE MINI or EYE XO. The directory note does not name the Uneekor model. Ask which one is in the bay.
Trackman, on the venue's page
- Big Indoor Golf in Farmingdale. The venue site says Trackman.
- Golf Lounge 18 in Lake Grove. The venue site says Trackman.
- Lab 18 in Roslyn. The membership page says five TrackMan 4 bays. The same page describes a members-only club. The book-a-bay page numbers bays through 7, so call (516) 588-1018 before you count on a public session.
- Endless Round in Mattituck. The site lists four TrackMan bays and says the studio is temporarily closed. Call (631) 298-7156 before you go.
Named on the February 2026 list, not on a venue page we confirmed
The February 3, 2026 list is the citation in the directory when the venue site was not confirmed. Treat the brand as the list's description, then ask the room.
- PGA Tour Superstore Westbury. The list describes six Foresight hitting bays. The store's booking tool does not name the launch monitor. The Westbury store is in Westbury.
- PGA Tour Superstore Commack in Commack. The list describes Practice + Play and Trackman. The booking tool did not show a session price on October 22, 2026.
- Golf Galaxy Bay Shore in Bay Shore. The list describes in-store Trackman rentals. A store-page address and phone were not confirmed.
- Calverton National in Calverton. The list describes three Trackman hitting bays. A venue website was not confirmed.
A bay that is not a home-unit brand
- Golfzon Range Westbury. Golfzon's page says 18 indoor simulators. That is Golfzon's own system. It is a place to hit indoors. It is not a tryout of an Uneekor, Foresight, SkyTrak, Rapsodo, or Garmin unit unless the staff say otherwise. Call (516) 388-6210.
- X-Golf Westbury. The directory note lists 8 simulators and does not name Uneekor, Trackman, or Foresight. Ask what the bay is running.
The full indoor list, including rooms with no brand in the file, is the simulator guide.
Gear links
LISwing's affiliate config has GlobalGolf for club trade-in and Rain or Shine Golf for weather gear. Both are marked active. Neither one is a home-simulator seller, and this page does not add a simulator affiliate link. Trade-in and weather-gear links render on the gear page. Some of those links are affiliate links. If you buy through them, LISwing may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Read the affiliate disclosure.
How a venue fact gets into the directory is in how LISwing checks a venue.
Questions
How much ceiling height does a home golf simulator need?
There is no single number. Foresight's July 6, 2026 setup guide says 10 feet is the practical minimum for a comfortable driver swing, 9 feet works for many golfers, and 8.5 feet is for irons only. Trackman's simulator page says most users need at least 9 to 10 feet for a driver. Uneekor says an overhead unit is designed to mount 9 to 10 feet above the hitting area and recommends a 10-foot room for the EYE XO. Garmin's Approach R10 manual says only that the ceiling must be high enough that nothing obstructs the swing. Measure to the lowest joist, duct, light, or garage-door opener. A published typical Long Island garage or basement height was not found.
How much does a home golf simulator cost?
It depends which pieces you buy. On October 24, 2026, Rapsodo listed the MLM2PRO at $549.99 on sale and $699.99 regular. SkyTrak listed the ST MAX at $1,695 on sale and $2,995 regular, and an ST MAX studio package with enclosure, screen, mat, and projector at $4,195 on sale and $5,495 regular. Uneekor listed the EYE MINI LITE at $1,999 on sale and $2,750 regular, and the EYE XO at $6,499 on sale and $7,999 regular. Foresight listed the Falcon at $16,999. Trackman listed complete simulator packages from $29,715. Software is extra on most of these. Prices change. Tax, shipping, and installation were not included on those pages.
Do I need a special golf ball indoors?
Rapsodo says an RPT ball is required to show spin rate and spin axis on the MLM2PRO. Garmin's comparison of the Approach R50 and R10 says the R10 measures total spin indoors with Titleist RCT balls and calculates spin axis, while the R50 measures spin with any ball. Uneekor's EYE MINI LITE page says its dimple reading does not require marked balls. If the page for the unit you are buying does not say, call.
Will a cold Long Island garage affect the launch monitor?
Islip MacArthur Airport's 1991-2020 January normal is a daily low of 24.6°F and a daily mean of 31.9°F. Garmin's R10 manual lists charging from 32°F to 113°F and operation from 14°F to 131°F. A Garmin staff reply says heaters and fans can affect R10 radar, and that outdoor weather data can change reported distances if you do not set the temperature. Uneekor's EYE MINI LITE manual says the device is for indoor use and should not be stored colder than 20°F. If the garage is unheated, confirm the unit's range before you leave it there.
Where can I try a launch monitor on Long Island before I buy?
Island Greens in Franklin Square says its bays use Uneekor. Big Indoor Golf, Golf Lounge 18, and Lab 18 name Trackman on their own sites. Lab 18's membership page describes a members-only club. Endless Round lists TrackMan and says the studio is temporarily closed. PGA Tour Superstore Westbury's booking tool does not name the launch monitor. Golf on Long Island's February 2026 list describes Foresight bays there. Book a bay and ask what is in it. Published hourly rates are in the simulator pricing guide.
