Bethpage State Park driving range

October 23, 2026

How to practice at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale. Published range hours, why the ball price is call to confirm, walk-up practice versus a tee time, and warm-up notes for Black, Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow.

Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale has a public driving range. This page is the practice stop. Tee times for Black, Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow are a separate system, covered in the Bethpage tee time guide.

Checked October 23, 2026 against the New York State Parks golf courses page, the April 22, 2026 golf fee sheet (PDF), the state park page, and the operator's driving range page.

There is a range

New York State Parks lists a driving range at the golf courses and says it is open daily when the courses are open, weather permitting. The same page says to call the pro shop at (516) 249-4040 for more information. The state park page also says the park houses a driving range.

Brooke Management's Bethpage page says the group runs Bethpage golf operations, including the pro shop, the driving range, and instruction. Its range page says the range is now open for full practice. The phone printed on that page is (516) 249-0700, which is the golf information number on the Parks golf page. The fee sheet and the Parks range note both send pricing questions to the pro shop at (516) 249-4040.

Parks publishes the golf address as 99 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, Farmingdale, NY 11735. The range page prints the same street with "Meeting House" as two words. Neither page describes a separate range gate, a shuttle, or the walk from the mats to the first tee. Call the pro shop if your tee time is tight. The Bethpage venue page holds the directory phone and the Parks source link.

Hours

The range page posts these hours:

  • Open seven days a week.
  • Monday through Saturday: 6 a.m. until dark.
  • Sunday: 6 a.m. until two hours before sunset.
  • The operator can close earlier for weather, maintenance, or operational needs.

Parks does not print that clock. It says the range is open daily when the courses are open, weather permitting, and it tells you to call (516) 249-4040. Use the range page for the posted hours and the pro shop to confirm the day you go.

Pro shop opening times on the Parks page are shop hours. Parks says to call (516) 249-4040 to confirm them. From May 4 through August 9 that list starts at 4:30 a.m. The range page still says 6 a.m. First tee times on the Parks page fall between 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. depending on the season. Plan the warm-up from the range clock.

Season

Parks lists these 2026 course dates, weather permitting, and says the calendar can change. Contact the golf office to confirm.

  • Black: April 15 through November 15. Closed Mondays except holidays.
  • Red: April 1 through November 29.
  • Green: March 14 through November 29.
  • Blue and Yellow: year-round.

Blue and Yellow stay on the calendar after Black, Red, and Green close, and Parks ties the range to days the courses are open. The range page does not add a winter closing date. Weather can still shut it. Call before a winter trip.

A heated outdoor bay is a different facility. Confirmed heated ranges are in the heated driving range guide. Cantiague Park in Hicksville is the Nassau County range that states heated, covered stalls.

Ball prices

The April 22, 2026 fee sheet says range balls are available for purchase at the driving range, then says to call the pro shop at 516-249-4040 for pricing and more information. The sheet does not print a bucket price or a ball count. Call to confirm.

The same sheet says club rentals and golf lessons are available through the pro shop, and it does not print those prices either. Call.

Course prices stay on that sheet. This guide copies the range line only.

A bucket, with or without a tee time

The range page describes warm-up, practice, and on-screen games. It does not say you need a reservation, a New York ID, or a tee time to buy balls. The fee sheet lists green fees in their own tables and lists range balls as a purchase at the range.

Call (516) 249-4040 before you count on a walk-up bay, especially on a Black morning. Course reservations open at 7 p.m. on the schedule in the tee time guide. That window is for the courses. This page does not use a tee-time affiliate.

The state park page lists a car entrance fee of $8 and says a vehicle entry fee applies at the picnic area during posted hours. The golf course page and the range page do not say whether that fee is collected for a range visit. Call the park office at (516) 249-0701, or the pro shop, before you budget for the gate.

What you can hit

The range page says the range is open for full practice with newly installed nets, allowing golfers to hit drivers for the first time, and says you can play every club in the bag. That is the club rule on the operator page. Call if a sign on the bay says otherwise.

The same page says Inrange measures each shot and lists carry distance, dispersion, shot patterns, and on-screen target games. It does not publish a bay count. It also does not say whether the stalls are covered or heated, or whether a putting green or a short-game area is open to the public. Those details are call to confirm.

Golf on Long Island reported on March 27, 2026 that the range was closed for a rebuild, with a tentative reopening of April 29, 2026, and that the plan included covered stalls. The range page checked on October 23, 2026 says the range is open and describes the nets and Inrange. It does not repeat "covered." Treat a roof as call to confirm.

Instruction is the Golf Channel Academy at Bethpage. The academy page describes private coaching and names Trackman, video, and putting aids. It does not list a lesson price. The fee sheet says to call the pro shop.

Warming up before Black, Red, Blue, Green, or Yellow

  • Buy balls at the range. The fee sheet treats them as their own purchase.
  • Use the range hours, not the earliest pro shop opening. A summer shop time of 4:30 a.m. is a shop time.
  • Black is closed Mondays except holidays, from April 15 through November 15, weather permitting. A Monday session is for another course, and only if the range is open.
  • The range page says drivers are allowed. Check that club if you are playing Black and an older note still says the Bethpage range was irons only.
  • The operator can close the range for weather or maintenance. Call (516) 249-4040 the morning you play.
  • Neither page describes how long it takes to get from the range to the first tee. Leave time, and call if the tee time is early.

If the range is closed, these directory listings have a confirmed practice note:

The rest of the county list is the Nassau driving range guide. Suffolk ranges are a separate page. Filter the full set on the directory. Indoor rooms are on the simulator page.

Weather gear

The range is outdoors, the operator can close it for weather, and a roof is call to confirm. Trade-in and weather-gear links live in the site's affiliate config and render on the gear page. Some of those links are affiliate links. If you buy through them, LISwing may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Read the affiliate disclosure.
